First, we’ll talk briefly on the phone about your issue and then arrange an appointment, generally for the same day. Before one of us arrives, we will send you an email with a link to a couple of forms (privacy, informed consent, payment information) to complete. We’ll bring the supplies we think will likely be needed to your home and then we’ll sit down and discuss your situation in more depth. You should expect a follow-up call or text in the next 1-2 days to ensure you are doing well.
Yes. Santa Fe Mobile MD is meant to cover your primary care as well as day-to-day injuries and illnesses. We can also discuss lifestyle, nutrition and other topics pertaining to wellness during the visit. Improving health through lifestyle is one of our passions. Both Dr. Anderson and Dr. Rosen have lived in Santa Fe for over a decade and have contacts and personal relationships with most specialists.
Many patients leave the doctor’s office with an incomplete understanding of their diagnosis or have further questions that come up after the visit. Whether it has to do with stress tests, high blood pressure, wound care, cancer, gallstones, etc, there are always questions. Getting in touch with the specialist or provider can be quite challenging and often involves making an appointment (quite possibly for the next month, or even several months down the road). We hope to provide you with a better basic understanding of your medical concerns, answer further questions, and help guide decision-making with other members of your health care team.
We are happy to do telemedicine consults. However, we think it is important that we know each other first, so this service will primarily be available to established patients, or patients that we already know. Telemedicine consults can be done anywhere in New Mexico.
After a brief discussion or text about what you need and if we decide a phone visit is appropriate, we’ll set a time to sit down and talk. In the meantime, we’ll send you the link to online forms to sign (privacy, consent to treat, payment information). Sorry about the forms, but they are required. Signing just takes a couple of minutes. When the visit is complete, we’ll send any necessary prescriptions to your pharmacy, as well as an email to you with our assessment, recommendations, and an invoice for the visit. Expect a follow up call in the next couple of days to make sure you are improving. Once you sign up, you will have access to your personal patient information via the Kareo/Tebra Portal.
Absolutely, as long as your employer doesn’t mind and it works for you. Please clarify with your employer prior to arranging the visit. If you have scheduled a visit, it will be assumed that you have checked with your employer beforehand.
House calls will be done primarily by E-bike, which will limit range to about 3 mile radius from the South Capitol neighborhood. We may drive to other areas within the county, but there will be an additional cost.
No, unfortunately we cannot see patients at our business address. That would necessitate the office being designated as a clinic, which would entail substantial investment to meet regulations. The physical address listed is only for office tasks.
If we come to your house and feel that you should go to the ER or Urgent Care, we will absolutely recommend it and help you decide where to go and how to get there. If you are concerned you are having a significant problem (heart attack, stroke, injury or illness causing confusion or deformity), then don’t wait for us, just go to the ER.
Generally speaking, if you feel that it is an urgent care level problem, we ought to be able to deal with it at your home. In most cases, we can order same-day labs and x-rays and we can to do Rapid Strep testing in your home. We are not able to do flu testing at your home, but please note that the CDC recommends treating influenza based on symptoms, not testing, in most patients.

Non-emergent X-rays, ultrasounds or labs can be arranged through X-ray Associates, Santa Fe Imaging and/or Christus St. Vincent’s. If your insurance requires you to go to a particular lab/imaging center or you prefer another facility, that’s ok, too. We can send lab/radiology requests to any location electronically through our electronic health record.
The costs of lab or imaging studies or other outside services will be billed to you (or your insurance) separately by the company providing the services. Of course, we will go over results with you and help you understand what they mean and decide what the best treatment plan based on the results.
Our physicians and nurse practitioner work collaboratively. One of us will be assigned as your primary care provider. If you have a preference, please just let us know and we will make every effort to accommodate your request. There will be times that only one of us will be available due to vacation or other responsibilities. We will always do our best to schedule established patients with the assigned primary care doctor.
Our pediatric patients will usually be seen by Dr. Fox.
We will make every attempt to respond to your call, text or email within 30 minutes of delivery. There may be rare times when we are out of range, but you can expect a call back within two hours.
Messages left after-hours or on weekends will be returned the next business day. We will make every attempt to return urgent calls for patients whom we have recently seen to ensure you get the care you need and deserve.
You can pay through our credit card vendor with Visa or Mastercard, with HSA cards, or with checks or cash. On your invoice there will be more information about payment. We do not bill private insurance, Medicare or Medicaid because it requires a lot of time and expense. However, patients with private insurance can submit superbills to their insurance carrier for reimbursement.
We generally will bill you after completion of the visit that day. Through your Kareo Portal, payments can be made with your credit card or HSA/FSA card.
If you plan to use cash or check, just let us know during your visit and we’ll give you the information needed. If you have questions about the fees, please send us an email.
You can see and print receipts for all your visits on the patient portal.
Please note that New Mexico GRT (gross receipts tax) is not included in the stated fees. Taxes will be added onto the invoice.
We do not bill insurance companies and Santa Fe Mobile MD is considered an out-of-network provider. We are happy to provide patients with a superbill that they can submit to their insurance provider for possible reimbursement. The likelihood of reimbursement will depend on the insurance provider and type of plan.
We do accept HSA/FSA payments.
Most patients will find that the fees are similar to or better than out-of-pocket expenses incurred at a local Urgent Care or ER. In addition, we believe that the convenience, personalized care and ongoing relationship with your medical team will make our service far more valuable.
Kareo (now called Tebra) is a web-based platform that we use for medical documentation, lab and radiology orders, sending prescriptions, telemedicine visits, billing, and secure messaging to you. It is HIPAA compliant. When we schedule your appointment, you’ll receive a link to your private client portal at Kareo/Tebra. This will allow you to sign forms electronically and to set up your payment method.
Invoices and appointment reminders will be sent to you through this portal. After your appointment, you will continue to have access to the information in your chart.
Sustainability is our passion. Our goal is to provide great care with the least harm to the planet. (Our bikes are charged by solar power at our homes.) Sustainability also entails minimizing unnecessary supplies, medications and procedures. Many of these things can be avoided through thoughtful and unhurried care.
We believe in a “lifestyle of movement” (bicycling or walking) as an antidote to the most common diseases of modern living: hypertension, obesity, diabetes and depression. It’s important we practice what we preach.
